You do not need to know everything before asking a good question

Members can care about IAF, welcome improvement, and still ask how authority, professional stewardship, and accountability are being protected.

Participation here is invitational and privacy-conscious. No name, quote, region, or position is published merely because someone contacted the Working Group.

What we are hearing

Recurring themes—not attributed quotations.

These themes combine patterns across conversations. They do not imply permission to identify or quote any contributor.

01

We are not against change. Many members support stronger administration, clearer processes, consistency, and sustainability; the concern is how substantive professional and governance changes are being made.

02

Disagreement does not mean withdrawal. Some assessors completed the survey and still hold serious concerns; others declined it while saying they wished to continue serving.

Trust is now part of the issue. Recent correspondence shows withdrawal, disengagement, and experienced contributors reconsidering their relationship with IAF.

Members are asking for facilitated dialogue. Independent voices are calling for pause, retrospective review, neutral facilitation, or another process that rebuilds shared understanding.

Professional readiness matters. Hangzhou shows why internal clarity affects candidate experience, consistency, and assessment quality—not only internal debate.

Professional capacity is not instantly replaceable. Assessor development depends on years of mentoring, calibration, experience, and trust; losing that capacity is itself a sustainability question.
